Samad Davis is a true native of Newark, New Jersey (USA). Life and times in this colorful city gave him an understanding of the rhythm and value of stories from the streets. These were the stories of the have nots and the have all. Samad realized that he had to learn how to tell these unique stories. The classic and timeless medium of film would be his means by which to do so. He would learn the photochemical process by enrolling in the school of Film, Video, and Arts (FVA) in New York City and by working on indie films such as Ice of Life and Comedy in Da’ Hood.

After working on those projects and completing film school, Samad honed his skills as a filmmaker. He came to realize that he had acquired the talent to create a successful company that would be connected to a growing industry and possess creativity and longevity. His company would be formed with his partner Ahmad Thomas and named Mody Mod Films, Inc. December 2002 marked the release of Mody Mod Film’s first feature film and Samad’s true directorial debut Durdy Game. Samad produced and directed this film on a shoestring budget, however the film would go on to become a “Cult Classic” and became proof of his talent as a filmmaker and businessman.

Samad and his company are still on the move. They have been reloading and perfecting their techniques while developing projects such as, Durdy Game the Series, Daddy’s Dairy, S.T.R.I.P, (Save The Really Important People) and their flagship project, Knuckles, quoted as being the next big thing. He has also produced several short films like The Minds of Men, which has just been turned into and shot as an 8 episode TV docu-series and The Minds of Men Africa, the One Nation Many Voices, Award Winning Short film for “Best Drama,” Glimpse. Samad's work hasn’t stopped there. He directed the feature film, “Three Can Play That Game”, starring Vivica A. Fox that was released by Sony/Screen Gems. He produced the groundbreaking feature film Mooz-lum that stars, Nia Long, Evan Ross, Roger Guenveur Smith and Danny Glover to name a few. Mooz-lum with a rapidly growing internet following spanning 40 countries around the world, finally made it’s big debut at the 14th Annual (2010) Urban World Film Festival in New York City, sold out all available shows and took home the festival’s highest Award for “Best Narrative Feature”. Through AMC Independent, Mooz-lum enjoyed a theatrical release in selected theaters across America and thus beating out major releases such as Justin Bieber's "Never Say Never" movie, by having the highest per screen average upon it's release.

Through his other works as President and COO of Magna World Partners Inc., an international trade, investment and development firm whose mandate is Africa, Samad has been able to travel to 14 African countries. In 2010, Samad set up a branch of his film / tv production company up in Ghana, West Africa (Davis Media Ghana Limited), a division of his film investment company Motion Picture Equity Fund LLC and subsequently shipped all the necessary production and post-production equipment needed to start producing groundbreaking, next level projects (music videos, commercials, tv and film), to not only elevate the quality of content produced in Ghana, but ultimately make an immediate impact to the entertainment industry in Africa as a whole.
